Raise the Roof for John,
John Gavin is a shining example of courage, fortitude and determination. At the turn of the millennium he was diagnosed with lupus, a life-changing disease which ended his career at Siemens. Over the last 17 years John has fought a brave fight with hip replacements, always staying positive and leading by example. Last February John lost his left leg due to complications through his lupus. A recent miracle has transpired in John’s life where he was fitted for a prosthetic leg. He was told that he would never be able to have one but like everything in John’s world the impossible become possible because people have faith in God’s grace. Since last spring John has been sleeping in his living room with only I small bathroom on the first floor and no shower. Now it’s time for us to help support a proper ground floor bedroom addition with handicap shower to be built. We call our mission: “Raising the Roof for John”. John has given back to our community whether the CYO, Haverford Jr. Hawks Hockey and Drexel Hill Little League. Over the past 25+ years that John’s family is been a part of Saint Bernadette’s Parish where they have giving their all for everyone. I believe now is the time we help him, so any amount of money you can give towards creating a better life environment is greatly appreciated. God bless and thanks to all.
