Raise The Roof!

Imagine being an orphan in India. Sleeping on the streets and begging for food. We’re fundraising to support an amazing organization in Tamil Nadu, southern India, that takes children off the street and gives them a loving home, including education and the skills they need to be self-supporting in the future.
Our church has loved and supported the Indian Gospel Mission for nearly 30 years. We know the Williams family, who founded IGM, really well and are amazed by what they do for hundreds of children with a very limited budget
At the end of 2015 torrential rain (once-in-100 year storms) washed out IGM’s children’s home in Chennai. When the water went down, the building was unsafe and had to be torn down.
Now the Williams family has begun rebuilding. They raised $50,000 to get started on a new dormitory but need another $35,000 to finish and put the roof on. We are heading to India in February 2017, to offer support for the young children who have been impacted by this storm. We want to “Raise the Roof” for IGM’s children’s home so 80 young children can sleep in their own beds, instead of a church floor. Our goal is to bring the $35,000 with us, so that IGM can begin using the funds as soon as we arrive.
This fundraiser is led by the GFC Youth Group – Alisyn, Audrey and Ana Kercher, and Brooke and Claire Redmer will take the money with then to India in February. Our church will match what we raise up to $35,000. So our target is $17,500.

During the flooding, the Williams not only protected the children, but also fed hundreds of villagers in the communities around them. They routinely deliver food to rural villages, a gypsy community, and leper colony, bringing hope to the poorest of the poor. Your gift will give hope to children who have nothing and no-one but the Williams family to care for them.
