Raise Funds for DACA Before It's Too Late

Donation protected
On November 12, 2019, the Supreme Court justices heard arguments regarding whether the Trump Administration has the authority to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, known as DACA.  DACA was implemented by President Obama in 2012 and has allowed hundreds of thousands of younger undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children to live free of the fear of deportation and to work legally in the United States.  DACA status is good for two years, after which applicants must apply for renewal.

President Trump initially tried to end the program in September 2017, but several courts ruled that he could not end the program without providing adequate rationale for doing so.  However, now that the issue has gone to the Supreme Court, DACA is in real danger of being terminated.  This will leave hundreds of thousands of Dreamers no longer able to work and study in the United States, and at risk of being deported to countries that many of them hardly know or remember.

We expect the Supreme Court to make an announcement about DACA in the Spring and, with the current make-up of court, we are not optimistic about DACA’s future.  If the Supreme Court allows Trump to end the DACA program, DACA will likely be phased out in stages, allowing those who already have the status to keep it until their 2 years expires, while not allowing further renewals.

It is vital that we help as many Dreamers as possible renew their DACA status before the Supreme Court announces their decision, so that we can allow them at least 2 more years of being able to work and study, serve their communities, and be safe from deportation.   We have already received requests for help from 3 Dreamers in Baltimore who need help with the renewal fee of $495, and we are sure there are many more.  Please help us to raise funds to assist Dreamers in Baltimore with their renewal fees.  These individuals do not have the luxury of waiting to save up the funds on their own – they need to renew their DACA status as soon as possible.  Please help us to give them this opportunity before it is too late.

This is our 3rd fundraiser specifically for DACA renewal fees.  Thank you to everyone who has donated in the past!  In our last 2 fundraisers, we raised enough to help 9 individuals with the renewal fee.  We hope you will consider supporting us again.

If you need help renewing your DACA status, or know someone that does, please contact us at [email redacted].
