Raise for Handicap van for Jimmy

Hello Everybody!

As many of you know, Jimmy had a brain aneurysm rupture in 2013 and then 2 strokes that followed along with a secondary bleed. He was in the ICU for 35 days before he was moved to a rehab facility. We had many ups and downs and many scares while at the hospital. We were told that he may not be the same "Jimmy" we all once knew. We were told when we left the hospital and he was on a feeding tube and ventilator, to give him 6 weeks and that in 6 weeks if he did not improve, then we should start talking about how good of a quality of life he would have. As you can imagine, this absolutely broke our hearts but we knew that we were not ready to give up. He showed us multiple times that he was still with us, so off we went to the rehab facility even though it was 2.5 hours away from us. We managed for 6 months while he was at that facility. We went every weekend to visit and on the holidays. That facility did wonders because they were able to successfully wean him off the ventilator and get him breathing on his own, which then brought us to the horrible decision of where he was to go next as he was no longer qualified to be at that rehab. We came home and talked and decided that none of us wanted to put him into a nursing home, I'm sure all of you know how they can be, so we decided we wanted to do what we needed to bring him home and care for him here. In June of 2014, Jimmy came home. Over the past 3.5 years, we were able to get his trach and feeding tube removed. We have also been able to get him a power wheelchair. This makes it where he has more mobility and can have some of his independence back because he can operate it by himself. We are wanting to be able to take him out to eat, go to the park, take him to the doctor by our selves instead of having to call an ambulance. Carla (for those that do not know, that is Jimmy's sister) knows somebody who has a van with a lift in it already and they have offered to sell it to us as well as deliver it to us. We are asking if you can donate anything to help us reach our goal to help Jimmy have a better quality of life and be able to get out of the house. We want to be able to take him to see the doctors up in Louisville that saved his life on 10/09/2013 as well as they truly made a difference in his care!! Help us, help Jimmy!!
