Rainwater Harvesting for Nigeria

I and my partners are looking to raise money for developing a rainwater harvesting project in a Nigerian town. The project is to advance and promote a clever and intelligent solution to water shortages in African nations at the grassroots level. The technology exists and we can build this with determination and make Africa bloom into a water superpower.
My objective in building this project is to build a rainwater harvesting system for a community building in Nigeria to produce an efficient and reliable water supply to overcome a shortage of drinkable water. Rainwater harvesting is the way to go forward for many Nigerians and it can bring vast quantities of water to prevent dehydration among these communities.
Nigeria is perfectly placed for this type of technology because it has one of the strongest precipitation levels in the world. With a maximum annual rainfall of 4000 mm a year and with a roof size of 150 square metres they can bottle and cultivate half a million litres of rainwater every year. At 2500 mm a year in some areas they can bottle around 300 thousand litres of water a year. Combining this with a filter system that we can purchase as part of the setup the Nigerian communities can then use that water for whatever they need.
In the long term, we can build a large scale distribution of this technology to show the world that countries with heavy rainfall can produce food and drink from a sustainable water source. The result is that developing countries can grow their economy alongside the environment.
For years charities have been providing water supplies for African rural communities using wells. I respectfully disagree as they are prone to drying up where the groundwater levels can go down in the dry season. Wells are also expensive to build starting at around £8000 to set up a basic one. By comparison, a rainwater harvesting setup costs around £800 and assuming the country has a strong raining season it gathers far more water and requires no need to walk 5 miles to the nearest source.
This fundraising proposal comes from Africa House London in collaboration with Icon Lifesaver and Save Sahara Network. AHL is a non-profit organisation devoted to promoting trade and development opportunities between Great Britain and African nations. I am a research assistant intern for AHL and this project is one that I am raising seed money to develop the project. This is a great leap in innovation for water cultivating communities that I hope you will donate to build. In the future, these communities will be able to produce drinks that they can distribute to your local stores for you to enjoy.
