So Hazel’s story began on 11/30/19 when I found out I was 9 weeks pregnant with her. As you know I have MS and have been told that I can’t have another child, surprise! Hazel was born 6 weeks early on 5/23/20. She was born with her esophagus unattached to her stomach, a disease called TEF. We were told she had a 20% chance of survival. Hazel fought and fought and was able to have a successful surgery for this on 6/30/20. At this time Hazel also had an active heart murmur and was having respiratory issues. She remained at the hospital for two more months until they could make a decision on what to do. On September 8th they decided the best idea was for Hazel to have heart surgery before she came home. This surgery was successful. She recovered quickly and was sent home a day before her 4 month birthday on 9/22/20. All of this has been so hard on our family. Financially and emotionally. We’re a strong family though and have continued to pull through. On 9/23/20 the day after Hazel was home our car was stolen from outside my husbands work. We have a vehicle on it’s last leg and need to make sure we have a safe vehicle for Hazel to get to her appointments. A lot of people have been asking how they can help and I believe this is the easiest way. Thank you all for your prayers, love, kindness and support.
