RSOGB 5K FINAL COUNTDOWN
RSOGB have worked tirelessly over the last 4 years to fight for our green belt but we need your help NOW MORE THAN EVER PLEASE?
First we had the draft local plan that saw three areas under threat, causing public outcry and was promptly reduced to one, the former Eccleston Park Golf Course.
Ironically, this site is probably one of the most crucial because it is the last stand between the complete merger of Prescot, Whiston, Eccleston Park, Nutgrove, Thatto Heath and Rainhill, with infrastructure that simply cannot take the increase in traffic and pollution.
Rightly or wrongly, many of you have discovered EPGC during the last year of the pandemic and now appreciate just how vast and important this piece of land is to the environment, wildlife, nature and the well being of us all.
The adopted local plan goes before the Inspectors very shortly and there is also a live planning application submitted to St Helens Council by Mulbury Homes, in preparation to develop this land.
Along with 2 other action groups in St Helens we have worked together for over 3 years to produce representations against the local plan using experts with specialised knowledge but we need to update those and include additional information.
We have the chance to speak and present our case at the inspection but would require professional help to do this. We need the assistance of experts with years of experience and planning knowledge to ensure that our evidence is sound, presented in the correct way and is in line with national planning policy and will also stand up to cross examination.
These services obviously come at a considerable price with their top lawyers earning up to £1000/day and in order to be able to fight them at that level, WE NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE TO RAISE 5K?
As you may be aware, usually we would fundraise with events like pub quizzes, group meals and even 'Tea with Santa' but due to Covid restrictions, we cannot do this and that is why we have launched this page. If anyone could spare even a few pounds to help us achieve this last push, we would be extremely grateful*
Once our green belt has gone, it's gone forever.
