BACKGROUND:

The Railway Family 2021 was launched last year by Natasha Hanson - National Rail Awards Judge, and former HR and Business Services Director of Direct Rail Services, amidst a time of uncertainty and concern for the rail industry. The aim was to bring people together for a good cause and to remind us that, when we unite, there is simply no industry that compares.

Now, once more, it is time for us to come together, and we need to extend our family even further....

We are therefore delighted to announce that we will be supporting the National Rail Awards 2022 in paying tribute to the heroic and unimaginable efforts of Ukrainian Railways.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, 140 railway workers have lost their lives whilst evacuating 3.5 million to safety.

As part of that, we will be raising money for British Ukrainian Aid to fund life-saving equipment:

- £20 buys a tourniquet that stops/ slows bleeding allowing medical help to arrive;
- £100 buys specialist First Aid Kits;
- £716 buys a versatile stretcher that allows only 2 instead of 4 people to carry out a rescue, reducing the number of lives being risked saving others;
- £1200 buys a Baby Warmer, needed when frequent air raids mean moving vulnerable babies from ICU to cold basements;
- £8000 buys an ambulance.

British Ukrainian Aid supports people suffering from the war and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine by aligning UK and Ukrainian efforts.

They offer assistance to vulnerable individuals who have been physically, mentally or socially disadvantaged, including the injured and wounded, orphaned children, the elderly, internally displaced persons and refugees . Since the full-scale invasion in February 2022 their main focus has been providing essential medical aid to Ukraine.

Let's bring our industry together once more to offer support and aid.

Please give generously!
