My "son" might be taken from the only home and only family he has ever known because of policy; and we need your help to fight that injustice.
Allow us to introduce ourselves, we are a foster family.
Through the years we've had 40 foster children come through our doors. Some for a day or two, some for much longer. There have been many highs along the road of fostering but today we need to share another kind of story.
A few years ago, our family went through a similar scenario that we are facing today. We went to the hospital to pick up a darling newborn boy and we raised him as our own, fully intending to adopt him until 'policy' changed. We tried everything except hiring a lawyer to be his forever family but at the age of two I had to LITERALLY have him ripped from our arms, hearing him screaming "mama, dada" while standing back as the new adoptive parents, who were complete strangers to this little boy, wrestled him into his carseat, as he was flailing and kicking. I remember the very place I was standing on my back deck as I watched the dust from their car as they drove from our house and the feeling of surrealness ending; the air being sucked from my lungs.
And this boy left the only home he had ever known, not because he had to , he already had a family who loved him, but because a policy devoid of logic and common sense dictated where a child was to be placed.
Now, fast forward a few years and it's happening again. There's another boy, we love like he was our own, and we will do everything we can, not to have him taken from the only family he has evern known without a fight. It's not fair to him. Help him keep his family.
We need to hire a lawyer and we've found one who is tenacious and has a positive track record for keeping children in homes where they are bonded and attached, but we don't have the funds readily available for her retainer.
We are asking you to partner with us financially to fight for justice for our little boy. Literally any amount will be helpful. I know $5000 is small in God's economy, though it seems like a lot to us right now. And if, by chance we raise over $5000, we will personally gift it to another family who is fighting our same fight. Unfortunately, there are many children who share our "sons" story.
