Help Families-Ragged Island,Bahamas










Ragged Island, oh Ragged Island.

A sad feeling today as the island my grandmother and numerous family member lives on, father grew up on, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins was named "uninhabitable" due to Hurricane Irma. The hurricane completely destroyed homes, schools, churches, roads, animals, etc. I always heard of this tragedy happening to others, but never would I have imagined it happening to us. Many of them are left without anything. Where they called home for the past centuries has been completely demolished.

I feel obligated to help raise money to rebuild our family history and not just watch it disappear. My daughter spent her first summer in Ragged Island this past summer, and I can't tell her it was her last, next year when she asks why she can't go back. Each and every cent will go towards materials (plywood, blocks, concrete, foundation, etc.) necessary to rebuild the island. We will build up our little island, Ragged Island.

I remember stories of my grandmother coming to the capital, Nassau, and complaining everyday how she wanted to go home. I'm like why do you want to go to an island where nothing is, just a handful of people and goats. But that's where she wanted to be, that was her home, her tranquility. No crime, just love on one island and ofcourse, cool breeze.

The point is, we have an opportunity to build a better island, a better land for our family to live on. Let this bring our families together and make the impossible, possible. Let this not be the end. We are small, but powerful if we come together. Not one person can fix it, but we need everyone's help! Keep my family in your prayers and your hearts as this is not an experience anyone would want to go through. Share and hopefully we can accomplish our goal to rebuild our little island.

All funds will be deposited into my, Edkeira Curling, account and then used to purchase the necessary materials and items to assist in rebuilding homes and making our island beautiful again!
