Give Kenyan kids a safe, loving home

Don protégé
My name is Angelina and I’m the founder of Rafiki Home, a safe and loving home in Central Kenya which looks after 18  children whose parents are unable to care for them.  Our children range in age from 3 to 15 years.  Our aim is to give them the opportunity of a high quality education in a nurturing and caring family environment. Watch the rafikihome film!

Rafiki Home is committed to transforming the lives of disadvantaged children.

Sadly, many of our children are orphans or have difficult family backgrounds and were born into poverty, illness or disadvantage. We work with local authorities in Kenya to identify children in need of help.  Once we have agreed to care for a child, we commit to the child’s wellbeing, development and ongoing support through the years that they grow into adulthood.   We look after all their needs including food, healthcare and schooling. Our dream is to be able to make a real difference to their young lives and give them a joyful childhood and the opportunity to thrive despite the odds stacked against them.

Will you help me to support the children at Rafiki Home today?

A gift  of £300 will help us build a much needed new toilet and drainage system for Rafiki Home.

A gift of £300 will also buy one desktop computer. (We urgently need three, to support the children's learning during the pandemic.)

A gift of £100 will feed the children for one month.

A gift of £50 will pay for utilities in the home for one month.

A gift of £40 will buy new clothes for two children.

A gift of £25 will pay the school fees for one month for one child.

Giving children a safe, permanent home contributes to the transformation of young lives.  Rafiki Home offers reliable foster carers who build trust and look after the children as a family would.   The children have regular home cooked meals, a routine of playtime, schoolwork and exercise and creative activities.  The home is a happy and supportive place for children to grow up and on my regular visits I am always delighted to hear the children laughing, having fun and simply having the chance to be carefree children.

We want to keep improving Rafiki Home and urgently need to build new showers and toilets to ensure our children continue to be healthy, live in dignity and enjoy high standards of care.

Rafiki Home has been up and running for two years now and I am so proud of the children and carers.

My own professional background is as a counsellor and leader in an organisation supporting refugees in the UK.  I have seen at first hand over many years how trauma and poverty can blight people’s lives, especially the lives of children.   I grew up in Kenya and still have family there and setting up Rafiki Home is my personal contribution to making a difference to the lives of children in need.   I am passionate about making a difference for children in need and I know you are too.

Rafiki Home happily welcomes visitors and volunteers. Please contact us for more information.

Please join me today to change lives and help create a positive, loving home for children in Kenya by giving a gift now to Rafiki Home.

Please watch the rafikihome  film   And stay in touch via our RafikiHome Facebook Page .
