Leslie's parents visited her in California last Wednesday before driving back to Mexico. Leslie herself developed symptoms for COVID a couple days after and her dad experienced the same. Because he wasn't vaccinated, there were complications in his case where he was put on a ventilator in a private hospital in Mexico as there were no spots available in a public hospital in Mexico. The cost is about $7K USD per day for a private hospital and she can only afford it for another 2 days. To transfer her dad from Mexico for treatment in the States would cost around $29K USD.
