Rad Black Mom & Her 3 Dreamy Kids Need Our Support

My friend, Deminika is an anti-racism organizer, mom of 3 and just graduated with a doctorate in education leadership. This summer, she was wrongfully fired from her job and needed to retain legal representation to advocate for her legal rights—all of this on top of her car breaking down and trying to manage with 3 kids doing distance learning and trying making ends meet while she's unemployed during COVID.

Deminika has been working for years, through a parent group I'm part of at our elementary school, to make our school safer and more inclusive for Black families, who have historically not felt welcomed there. She volunteers countless hours for our school community and school district working towards equity and liberation.  She is outrageously kind, funny, smart as hell, and a fierce mama.

I feel a deep responsibility to step up for her and her family, and channel some serious resources in their direction.

I dream of how our support from this fundraiser can spread a sense of ease through this family, so they can just breathe easier and know that they are being seen and held by all of us.
