Racing To Help Brooklyn Hear

Donation protected
Brooklyn is not only my 3rd cousin, But also one of my littlest - biggest fans. She comes from a loving family , Where both parents work full time jobs to take care of there little ones. So we hope you all will join FCR , on the race to help Brooklyn hear . Brooklyn Jefferson was diagnosed with profound hearing loss (completely deaf) in both ears at birth, in 2011. She underwent surgery for bi-lateral Cochlear Implants at 13 months of age, in 2012. With the help of weekly speech therapies and audiology, this has been a miracle for the Jefferson family. Brooklyn is your typical 7 yr old girl who attends mainstream schooling at Clymore Elementary, has held perfect attendance since Kindergarten and is a cheerleader for Fort Defiance Little League Flag Football. Brooklyn's current cochlear implant is a N5, is 7 years old and is being discontinued this coming Winter. The processors will not be able to be serviced or have parts bought for when the discontinue takes place. The processor that Brooklyn is needing so that it can be serviced is a model N7. The new processor runs $11,595 for a single one. Brooklyn has profound hearing loss in both ears and is needing 2 processors. The processor cost does not include more than one battery or other accessories that she needs for them. Cochlear Implants:A cochlear implant is an electronic medical device that replaces the function of the damaged inner ear. Unlike hearing aids, which make sounds louder, cochlear implants do the work of damaged parts of the inner ear (cochlea) to provide sound signals to the brain.
