Help Rachel Fight Cancer

On December 28, 2021, Chorus Studio co-founder, operations director, voice and piano teacher, choir manager, and beloved friend Rachel Wong was diagnosed with stage 4 urachal adenocarcinoma. Being diagnosed with a rare and incurable form of cancer, which affects less than 1% of patients, has altered Rachel's life forever.

Rachel is a pillar in the music community at Chorus Studio. Her intelligence, devotion, and hard work helped to expand YVR Pop Choir from an ensemble of 50 singers to Chorus Studio: a dynamic, diverse and inclusive community of 4 choirs with over 140 singers in addition to private voice, piano, and guitar students. With Rachel at the helm of operations, Chorus Studio has raised over $65,000 for mental health and animal rescue organizations since 2017. During the worst of the covid-19 pandemic lockdowns, Rachel worked tirelessly and without pay to keep our choirs and educational programs running virtually. Without her dedication and sacrifice, Chorus Studio would not exist today.

Rachel is the first to lend a helping hand when someone is in need. She will do so quietly and generously, with no complaints and a kind and gentle smile. Now, she is the person in need.

Since her diagonsis, Rachel has undergone multiple biopsies, invasive surgery to remove part of her bladder, and aggressive chemotherapy treatments. Sadly, the accumulating side effects of chemotherapy have left her unable to work consistently and Rachel is in need of financial support.

Your donation will help supplement Rachel’s lost income and cover medical bills and various living expenses. Her immediate needs include new clothing (due to her weight loss), a wig, and transportation to and from work and medical appointments (she is unable to drive or use public transit due to being immunocompromised and at risk of fainting).
