Many of you have recently become aware of the painful year Rachel has endured while searching for answers to her medical mystery. We are both still blown away by the outpour of support and generosity we have seen since creating this gofundme a few weeks ago. We can not even begin to express our gratitude to each and every one of you.
Now, we must call on all of you once again to please share & give what you can, as we are finally approaching some answers. As of this week, RACHEL HAS BEEN ACCEPTED BY THE MAYO CLINIC’S FLORIDA CAMPUS !!
For those who are not familiar with the Mayo Clinic, it is ranked as the number one hospital in America and is known for its high level of care, integrated clinical practice, and research. Of course, in addition to the thousands of dollars in medical bills that have already accumulated, a stay at the Mayo Clinic will come at a tremendous cost. Travel, housing, and the medical bills to come have made this opportunity already seem impossible. So again we must ask you all for continued support during this difficult time. Thanks to all of you we are one step closer!

I am asking for anyone with a generous heart to support me in helping my best friend, Rachel Pawelczyk, through a very trying time. Over the past year, she has been extremely ill without answers. She has kept her struggles off of social media through most of this time to avoid negative attention or pity. She has fought her way through medical barriers time and time again and has seen specialist after specialist in search of answers asked to why her 25 year old body has begun to fail her. Society tends to make the sick feel embarrassed, damaged, and helpless. I have watched Rachel struggle to figure out how she will pay COUNTLESS hospital/medical bills, cover many prescription costs, and afford everyday expenses such as food and gas to get to her appointments and monthly bills. She has not been cleared to work since March and has been unable to leave her bed on most days, despite her very few “good days” (which are still very limiting). Someone dealing with this constant pain and suffering should not spend their days additionally concerned with how in the world she can cover costs. I know Rachel has put off going to the hospital on multiple occasions just to avoid the inevitable bills.
After a year of being pricked, scanned, and examined constantly in search of answers... her symptoms continue to worsen. She is STILL left without a clear diagnosis (although doctors do have a lengthy list of concerning hypotheses of what she may be facing). We are praying that it is something that can be treated or managed once found, or even something that simply disappears, however the future of her health is unclear. She is currently in the hospital AGAIN getting numerous tests run due to new and severe symptoms that may be caused by a serious infection in addition to whatever else her body is battling.
For those who do not personally know Rachel, let me tell you a bit about her. She is one of the most genuine, passionate, caring, and generous individuals you could hope to meet. She is the type to give clothes off her own back to someone in need, the type to come at any time of day to help a friend in an emergency, the type to stop everything to save a lost or injured animal, the type to spend her last dollar helping a stranger less fortunate than herself. If you do know Rachel, you already know all of these things to be true.
Whether you do or don’t know Rachel, please consider donating any amount to support her cause throughout this difficult time . No one expects a 25 year old girl to go through something like this and it has severely impacted her life and plans for the future. It is difficult enough to see the physical and emotional agony she has been in over the past year, but we are truly unsure how she can ever dig out of the deep financial hole on top of the damage they have already done. Rachel and her family have racked up tens of thousands of dollars in costs with no end in sight to this painful pattern.
