Hi, I’m Rachel! I’m honoured to have been successful in the application process to be part of a global leading science project that will help us to better understand the scale of damage caused by plastic pollution, and what we can do to help.
Over 2 years, the eXXpedition crew will be sailing around the world. The 2 year trip has been broken down into 30 legs - and joining the legs are a total of 300 exceptional women from all over the world, including artists, activists, media experts, educators, mothers and change makers - each of whom have committed to their mission of raising awareness of the plastic pollution affecting our oceans, wildlife and human health.
I will be joining Leg 11 in May 2020, sailing 500 nautical miles in 1 week from Tonga to Fiji, through waters and islands affected by debris that is accumulating in the Southern Pacific Gyre - sadly an area that has come to be known as the ‘pacific garbage patch’.
I will be working hard with a shift pattern of 8 hours on / 8 hours off, collecting scientific samples of ocean plastics, exploring the scale of plastic pollution and creating opportunities to make positive global changes.
I’m raising money to fund this crucial scientific research and would greatly appreciate your support. For more information please visit https://exxpedition.com/expedition/round-the-world/.
Thank you for all your support! xx
