On February 9, 2018, Rachel was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in her tongue. Rachel is the most loving wife, the best mother of four young kids, ages 8, 6, 4 & 2, incredible daughter and friend. Her diagnosis came after months of chasing down a reason for pain she had been experiencing in her tongue and after a weeklong stay at Bridgeport Hospital for a mysterious lymph node infection. Rachel and David then rushed up to Yale’s Smilow Cancer hospital after the initial diagnosis and it was confirmed she has stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma in her tongue and lymph nodes on the right side of her neck.
Due to the nature of cancer, on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, the T4 tumor will be removed from her tongue and she will also have all lymph nodes and glands removed from both the right and left of her neck in a full day of surgery. As everyone knows, cancer SUCKS and the financial burden which is just about to begin is extremely stressful. There will be extensive expenses that accompany her surgery, recovery and treatments. Out-of-pocket expenses, Co-Insurance, Deductibles, and prescription costs all add up. We want to limit the stress to Rachel for her medical bills while trying to keep her children involved in all of their current and future activities. Rachel and her family will need your help!
