On Sunday afternoon, May 16, Rachel was involved in an accident that resulted in her having to be life flighted to University of South Alabama Burn Unit. From what we know now, she is suffering from 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 40% of her body. Due to the severity of things, she will likely have to stay in the hospital for at least 30 days and may undergo multiple surgeries. Anyone who knows Rachel knows that she is an insanely strong woman that will fight through anything, so we are not surprised to find out that the nurses are already amazed at her strength and toughness!
While an accident like this is never good, it is especially hard for Michael and Rachel and their young family as they were hit hard last September with major flooding from Hurricane Sally— in a no flood zone. While tearing out drywall, they discovered more damage to their home that they did not even know existed. Due to those discoveries and damages, they have put their entire savings and then some into fixing up their house. Those two have worked tirelessly to build their house back into a home for their girls. And it isn’t quite done yet. It has been and still is a long process. As a result, they have been displaced for months.
Michael and Rachel are two of the most giving people. Those who know them and are around them, know that they will drop whatever they are doing to help anyone who needs it. Family or friends, you know that these two are never ones to ask for much, but are always the first to give. They need our help now, so we are asking on their behalf. Anything that will help cover the medical bills between life flight, hospital stays, and surgeries would be extremely helpful. We are also asking for any one that can lend a hand in getting their house finished for them, so that they have a home when Rachel is able to leave the hospital. This is going to be a long, tough road ahead for them so we are trying to do anything and everything we can to take any sort of pressure or stress off of them.
