Race Rock Lighthouse Restoration Plan

GREAT NEWS ~ June 23, 2019
Independent donations to this fund (outside of Go Fund Me) have added $1,560 to this campaign, which matched by John Steffian = $3,000! We have all-but met our goal.

Thank you Joanne Cain & Chelsea Groton Bank for your $460, and thank you George Sprecace for $1,000!

We're still raising money to create a preservation road map for Race Rock Lighthouse, and any donation will help make impact. Your contribution is 100% tax deductible. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

Race Rock Lighthouse turned 140 years old in December, 2018. New London Maritime Society has owned the lighthouse since 2013. At this point, we have secured the building and done preliminary cleaning and repair.

The Maritime Society is eager to start the restoration. But first we need to have a strategic plan prepared by a preservation architect.  We have selected Walter Sedovic Architects,  who did the restoration for both Block Island, RI, lighthouses, and for Faulkners Light, off Guilford, CT.

The price for this assessment (+ related costs) comes to $11,000.

A generous benefactor came forward to jump start this campaign by donating 50% of the cost - $5,500 - for an architectural assessment and plan to restore Race Rock Light!

Now a 2nd benefactor, John Steffian, has offered to match all future donations dollar-for-dollar!

Please help us raise the remaining $2,750.  In combination with John's match, that will get us to our goal!

Support the preservation effort for Race Rock Light today!
Time is growing short. We want to have the plan ready so we can get to work next summer.
