In loving memory of our dearest friend Jon:
Jon was an extraordinary soul, radiating talent, humor, and unmatched fashion sense that left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His gift for songwriting and singing captivated hearts, and his role as a son, boyfriend, and friend showcased his unwavering love and loyalty.
Jon lived life unapologetically, inspiring those around him to embrace their true selves without concern for judgment. His infectious spirit motivated others to loosen up and appreciate the beauty of individuality.
Behind his vibrant exterior, Jon faced personal struggles with substance use. Despite his own challenges, he never failed to be there for others in need. Jon was the embodiment of selflessness, always extending a helping hand or a listening ear. He lived each day to the fullest, cherishing every moment and encouraging those around him to do the same.
However, Jon's battle with substance use ultimately took him away from us too soon. In his memory, we want to shed light on the dangers of drug abuse, particularly among young people like Jon. Opiate drug abuse, in particular, poses severe risks, and any form of substance use can have serious consequences.
Let's honor Jon's memory by raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, especially among our peers. Your support will not only help us remember Jon's vibrant spirit but also contribute to initiatives that educate and prevent drug abuse in our community. Together, let's make a difference in the lives of others and ensure that no one else loses a loved one to the devastating impact of substance use.
On behalf of his mother, Kimmy, she would like to share a moment when Jon truly displayed his giving and caring personality.
As we strolled down the streets of Hanoi, Vietnam, we encountered many people in need – the homeless, the hungry, and even a double-amputee beggar. Through Jon's eyes, you could see more than just individuals in need; you saw people with stories, souls, minds, and hearts yearning to be heard. Jon approached the double-amputee beggar and handed her a twenty-dollar bill. Shortly after, he requested more.
I responded, “That’s enough; you’ve already given more than needed.”
Jon insisted, “No, it isn’t. Please, she needs to eat. How is she going to eat?”
His concern resonated in his voice, touching my heart and making me realize what an angel I have for a son. Jon, at such a young age, already recognized the needs of others. His ability to understand and empathize was exceptional. It was a brief moment in time, but I'll never forget the kind gesture he made with genuine care that spoke volumes about the compassion he held for the world.
