Help Sophie get to South Korea
Donation protected
My name is Sophie and I have been lucky enough to be selected from High Wycombe District to represent the Bucks Unit 56, at the largest yet World Scout Jamboree to be held in South Korea during 2023.
The World Scout Jamboree is a huge event in scouting which takes place every 4 years, where participants get to collaborate with each other to learn, teach and share experiences.
To be selected I had to submit a written application, take part in a selection weekend where I was assessed in a range of different areas and then complete a panel interview.
Being part of this event is a huge honour and I am very excited, as I will join 40,000 from all over the work at this amazing event.
Joining with many young people from all over the world will allow me to learn from them, and hopefully teach them about British culture too.
This life changing adventure will enable me to positively support others in the long term, within scouting and in my personal life as I bring back and share what I learn.
Fundraising is a key part of the experience and I now have the challenge of raising a hefty £1500 to cover the cost of the training weekends and the Jamboree itself. The cost of participation for explorers in developed countries is set higher than those in the developing countries to subsidise the attendance of scouts from poorer nations, so any contribution to my fundraising will not only support me but also those in other, poorer countries.
I, along with my family, friends and other High Wycombe Scouts have already made a start on fundraising efforts. So far I have done bag packing at tescos, a 40km hike, tuck shop and car wash. Next I am going to run a quiz night for family, friends and scout leaders. If anyone would be willing to provide me with a donation, anything would be very much appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance for all donations.
