The New Church is seeking preliminary funding to provide an all inclusive space for people of color in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This funding will facilitate the circulation of resources surrounding the community, holistic health, wealth and self-advancement while also providing more alternative understandings of the historical black presence through the arts. Initial funds will be used for web hosting, activist and artist fees, graphic design, printing, digital marketing and renting temporary spaces.
The New Church aims to position itself as the first permanently placed non-profit (predominantly LGBTQ and BIPOC affirming) community space in Louisiana to be formed with the specific mission of applying alternative healing practices, while also solving political and social problems with contemporary art as a primary vehicle.
