Stolen Trailer Replacement

For 26 months, the special needs adult crew of Mi Abilities Inc. worked to save for a much needed trailer to more efficiently and effectively help do their job. On December 7, 2020, they celebrated the fruits of their labor with the purchase of a custom Big Tex 14 foot dump trailer 14LP. They were elated and eagerly put it to use. In a matter of six minutes on Sunday, January 17, 2021 the trailer was swiped away from them by a thief, robbing them of their accomplishment and goal attainment.
Disappointed, discouraged and deflated....That's how most would feel if an item that had been worked so hard to acquire had been stolen. That is certainly how the founder of Mi Abilities feels. But the diligent and committed special needs employees that make up the work force at Mi Abilities Inc. has assured their founder and job coaches they will work hard to someday be able to purchase the much needed replacement custom dump trailer that was stolen. As much as the optimism is appreciated and the enthusiasm is remarkable, coming out of an already financially strapping 2020 the likelihood is slim this can be achieved especially giving the limitations of firewood deliveries since the trailer was stolen.
The trailer was insured, but the policy limit is $3,000 with a $1,000 deductible netting only $2,000 for a trailer purchased for $8,530. A claim will raise the rates, increasing overhead for years to come, well beyond the $2,000 that is collectible.
With hard work and perseverance, Mi Abilities Inc., located in Milford, Michigan, has worked feverishly to maintain its workforce and grow its presence since 2016 even during a world wide pandemic. This group is not frightened by hard work, as noted by the array of different divisions that Mi Abilities operates which includes gourmet food line, pallet art, vinyl art, shredding services, handyman services, tent rentals and firewood deliveries.
