More Smiles For Xander

Donation protected
It's been a whirlwind of a month for our 3 yr old nephew Xander and his family.
In the month of October, Xander began throwing up in the morning. His parents thought it was just due to a runny nose or a cold, but it continued everyday for a month. He also had occasional headaches, which was attributed to a lack of sleep.  After a month of all this they decided to take him to the doctor. The doctor knowing the signs of brain tumors, felt it best to have them go get a CAT scan. They were fortunate to be able to get into Primary Chidren's Hospital an hour later for the scan. The scan revealed a tumor in his cerebellum. Later, an MRI scan was done, where another tumor was found.

The surgeons were able to get him into surgery that next morning to remove the larger of the two. The surgery was successful after which Xander spent two weeks of recovery in the hospital while we waited to find out what the tumor was. His parents are very grateful for the nurses and staff at Primary Children's Hospital who were phenomenal.  They made his stay as enjoyable as possible. They were very kind and accommodating to his parents and sibilings as well.

They finally discharged Xander and he was able to go home and continue his recovery which went much better there. Shortly after he was discharged we were informed that he has medulloblastoma, a common brain cancer in children. Although very serious the doctors tell us it is very treatable and has been shown to even be curable.

Xander will undergo another surgery within the coming weeks to remove the second tumor surrounding his pituitary gland. This surgery has the potential to damage the gland and even cause brain damage. Then he will have radiation daily for 31 days. Then he will begin chemotherapy for 9 months.

Xander is the happiest, full of energy, strong willed boy, and he has the most loving parents who are full of faith and positivity. Please help by donating so that they can deal with the insermountable medical expenses they are facing at this time. Any donation will help and it will take some of the burden and stress from their minds so that they can be by his side, caring for and aiding in his recovery.
