Breast Cancer

Throughout my life I always put others ahead of me. I attended to their needs physically, mentally, and emotionally. Thats just who I am. A person with a big heart who is willing to do anything for anyone. That is the reason why I decided to become a nurse. To provide quality compassionate care for those in need. Within a week of becoming a registered nurse, I knew there was something going on with me. I've become very fatigued and will sleep most of the day. I've lost noticable weight. But most importantly I have noticed 2 lumps within my left breast. They were surprisingly palpable and painful. I addressed the concern and did my diagnostic examinations of a breast ultrasound as well as a mammogram. The radiologist didn't like what he saw and couldn't believe what he saw. He couldn't explain that he was seeing a high chance of malignancy. Within a week I was taken in for a breast biopsy of the 2 areas. The surgeon discussed with me the possible chance of the tissue coming back cancerous. She wanted to prepare me for the worst.

On Friday September 14th, at 3:45pm. I anxiously received the news. Who would have thought that I, only 24 years old with my entire life a head of me would be diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer (triple positive ductal carcinoma). Im in shock the doctors are in shock. Im told that I will be the youngest breast cancer patient that my oncologist is now treating. Its questionable that how can I, being considered an average healthy individual with a family history of cancer, but not breast cancer will be fighting this battle. I've been told and I do believe, God sends the toughest situations to the strongest individuals who can  over come a challenge and convert it into a life changing success for either myself or others.

My intentions is for my story and my journey to go viral. Not for fame or publicity, but for advocating and educating that with cancer there is not age of diagnosis. Women should be aware and caution with any changes that is occurring within their body. For exams and diagnostics to be performed at a much younger age and not wait until reaching 40s or 50s. Please dont wait and get examine. Our health is precious and becomes much more valuable in not knowing what will happen.

I will be out of work for the next several months due to treatment (5 months of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation). Due to my work status, I'll be responsible to pay monthly premiums to be covered under my  insurance.

Please friends and family,  any help will truly be appreciated. May God bless you all with health, love, and happiness.
