Oztentatious- BHOZ 16!
My name is Imogen Kelly. I am Australia's Queen of Burlesque and World Queen of Burlesque 2012. I have the former title as Australia's primary pioneer of the neo burlesque revival, the later title I earned though my win at The Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas which is a huge honour. I am the first Australian to be given this title.
Australia has so many incredible performers, yet unseen by the world at large. It is very difficult for us financially to be able to attend international festivals and enter international competitions.
This year 4 Australian performers have been invited to perform at The Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas. They are Alyssa Kitt, Charlie D'Barkle, Sina King and Zelia Rose. They are FANTASTIC performers who truely carry the flame for Australian variety talent. Australia is a tiny nation, with a tiny burlesque community, so to have so many entrants is an outstanding achievement.
I would like to do all i can to fascilitate these fabulous four, to travel to The Burlesque Hall of Fame in June to fulfil their dreams of competing at The Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend.
With airfares reaching into the thousands, accomodation, food, freight and transport a trip to this competition can cost up to $6000 AUD.
Burlesque performers do not make a lot of money, our artform is not considered within the available grant systems, The Burlesque Hall of Fame is a charity and unable to assist financially.
I am asking all persons everywhere, but particually the Australian Burlesque community, friends and family to assist these four performers achieve their goals.
Through BHOZ each performer will recieve a $500 AUDcontribution toward airfares and $150 piums/ accomodation during the weekender/ competition.
Any excess money made will be split between the four performers and BHOZ for next years campaign.
Thank you in advance for supporting our artists step up to the world class level. In doing so you personally have contributed to helping these artists get to the next level of performance culture.
