Help The Peaceful Peacock Flock Move Buildings

The Peaceful Peacock opened in 2018 as a startup with a mission. It’s a neighborhood yoga studio focused on bringing accessible, achievable, affordable yoga to Orlando. It’s a no-experience-required, come-get-the-yoga-you-need-today kinda place. It’s where we nurture community, leave no one behind and help each other keep the fires of our personal revolutions lit.

Those first two years were incredible. Classes and events were full. Groups of random people became a connected, caring community. We were a flock on a journey together and life was good. And, I couldn’t wait to see where the journey would take us.

Then March 2020 happened. You all know the rest. Stay at home orders were issued. Isolation gave way to social distancing. And community yoga came to a screeching halt. Breathing together became scary. You also know how long and hard this has been, collectively.

We lost 90% of our business in the first two months of the pandemic.

Those early days were terrifying. But, not as terrifying as knowing that after working really freaking hard to make it this far, we could still lose the Peacock.

We immediately cut back on EVERYTHING to save money while our buffer slipped away. We built a livestream platform for virtual classes and curated a virtual library so anyone could have the yoga they needed whenever they needed it. Supportive landlords gave us space and grace and small business emergency loans designed to cover six months of expenses were stretched to last 18 months. That’s what got us this far. That and this amazingly supportive flock community that are experts at keeping those fires of revolution ablaze. We just don’t give up.

But, we’ve stretched our last dollars as far as they can go. The Peacock needs your help to make it to the other side of the pandemic. And, there’s a whole lot that’s got to happen to get us there.

There’s a new studio space in our future as our existing space will become an exciting new mixed-use residential/retail hub for Orlando and we need to move in January. Those same unshakeable landlords that helped get us this far have carved out a new corner for us. Just a block away from the current studio, they have earmarked a property that has exactly what this flock needs to ride out the rest of this pandemic: a huge backyard for outside yoga, covered patio for the rainy days, and private bathrooms with showers for those bouncing back on zoom calls.

But, we need your help and capital funds to transform that empty space into our new home. And, we need operating funds so the Peacock can keep being the come-get-the-yoga-you-need-today-in-the-body-you-have-today kinda place.

You’ve heard it before, but I’m gonna shout it from the rooftops because it’s truth - EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Every single dollar adds up and these are just a small example of some of the things your donation can do for the Peacock:

It could help cover the capital costs of pulling permits, changing occupancy and business license charges, transferring internet and electrical services, and installing sound, lighting and security systems;

It could help us meet routine operating costs of paying utilities, internet, insurance premiums, legal fees for review of the new lease, monthly services fees for MindBody, music rights, and our virtual platform, and most important of all - paying our teachers.

It could help chip away at the small business emergency loan debt and help make up from the shortfall of having severely reduced social distancing capacity requirements.

It could help grow our community scholarship program and give our teachers - who took a massive pay cut - a much deserved bonus.

It could give us room to breathe knowing we had enough funds to make it to spring and to the other side of this pandemic.

It could just help with...EVERYTHING.
