Dan's divorce survival project

My lease runs up at the end of June and I had planned to move into a new, more cost effective place on July 1. Now, with all of my money frozen, it all hangs in the balance. If I can't get help, I may be out on the street July 1.

These pressing short term needs total $2,200. If I meet that amount, I am safe and can regroup in July. My child support is $1,100/month so there is very little wiggle room if I fall behind.

The longer term need is why my goal amount is $22,200. I am in debt $20,000 to my divorce lawyer. I was distraught when I retained him because my then-wife Courtnie took my kids 1200 miles away to Florida to be with her new boyfriend. The only chance I had to see my kids again was to file for divorce. When she came back she made it clear that she would make it as expensive as possible for me. My lawyer happily spent hour upon hour writing up paperwork and filing things that ultimately had no bearing on the custody of my kids. By the time I realized what was going on, I was in deep.

$20,000 would start me over again completely. A clean slate. No more debt.
