Save ScooterSnacks!

Michelle Lewis, a dear friend and ‘Treat Lady’ of the Fort Greene Park dog community is facing a financial crisis and needs our help; specifically, Michelle has an outstanding loan balance of $8,500 due to Santander bank.  If not paid immediately, Michelle will be forced to leave her home and the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill neighborhood.

As relevant background, this balance stems from a $60,000 Small Business Administration (SBA) loan Michelle needed for construction & equipment to develop a raw kitchen space in the old Pfizer plant in Bushwick.  This build-out was intended to support the large-scale production of caramel for an ice-cream manufacturer that ultimately broke its agreement (i.e. purchase of a 10,000 pound/month supply from Spoonable).

While exhausting every option to stay afloat as a confectionery supplier to other businesses, Michelle paid down a significant portion of the original loan while shifting focus to the “Scooter Snack” business.  Michelle has demonstrated grace & strength as she weathered the consequences of the dissolution her small caramel/confectionery business, Spoonable. Unfortunately, the remaining $8,500 of this $60,000 SBA loan is past due and no additional loan modifications or extensions are possible; on May 15, the foreclosure and short-sale of Michelle’s co-op will begin.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO RAISE $8,500; your generosity will keep Michelle in our community and SAVE SCOOTER SNACKS!  Please consider making a gift of $50 or $250 or $2,500 or anything you are able to contribute.  Given the urgency, we also would appreciate if you could send a personal text or email with this GoFundMe link (please do not share on social media) to others who value what small business owners like Michelle provide to the heart and soul of our community.

In closing, this request comes from two friends on Michelle’s behalf (and with her express permission) because we believe in her and the importance of this GoFundMe campaign/cause.  Thank you for considering financial support to help sustain Michelle’s business and livelihood in our community.

Our deepest thanks,
