I am Richard and Lisa niece, I live near and work at the hospital he is currently in, I have been trying my best to do anything I can help them with,right now I believe this is what I need to do to help them. Long story short Richard was trying to save a stray kitten and it scratched him, he end up getting really sick and found out he has tularemia,its an extremely rare infection. He got life linked to Fargo do to his spleen rupturing, they cauterize the tear. About a month ago now he had new worsening pain and swelling on his left side, Lisa got him to St. Cloud and they did a CT of his abdomen and found a VERY large cyst coming off his spleen, surgery the next morning to remove the spleen and cyst, he was discharged 4 day’s later went home with a small drain, that got removed Thursday the 17, the 19th he was readmitted because of new fluid and abscesses.The fluid is in his abdomen, there’s an infection, and three abscess near the incision sight where they removed the cyst and his spleen.(Pancreas is leaking fluid) He was supposed to get a stent placed today in his pancreas, but the specialist that was supposed to do it did not feel safe placing the stent for Richards safety. There is a possibility he will be transferred to the University in the cities to have a different type of stent placed that the university specializes in, or he could go to the mayo. Lisa has been driving a little over an hour one between the hospital and home every day to be with him, they also have dogs that need to be taken care of, and on top of everything she is managing their finances now on a limited income, plus caring for herself. With the possibility of Richard being transferred that will increase her drive time and time away from home, Richard is concerned about their vehicle being able to make the drive. Most of their income goes to the mortgage on their home and to gas so lisa can come be with Richard.
