For those of you who aren’t aware yet, my 6 year old nephew, Logan Sheppard, son of Tony Sheppard and step-son of Beatriz Acosta; was involved un a Hit-n-run accident on Saturday March 31st 2018, while riding his bike with his mom and older brother, on FM 2351 at Friendswood, TX. Logan’s life was saved by first responders and witnesses at the scene that tourniquet his left leg, because he had an open fracture and was quickly airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Medical center at Houston, Tx. Once he got to the hospital, Logan had an emergency surgery to repair his broken femur, which lasted approximately 4 hours, due to other wounds that had to be stabilized before heading into repairing the bone structure. At this point he was breathing thru a ventilator and had X-Rays of his entire little body, revealing a Brain Bleed, broken collarbone and a broken cheekbone on top of countless cuts and bruises all over his body. He spent his first 36 Hrs in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unite (PICU), where the medical team took very good care of him, and finally graduated on Easter Sunday’s evening to a regular Pediatric Recovery room, for them to further monitor his improvement and long recovery. They’re humbled by the amount of support and prayers we’ve received these past 3 days, they’ve got us thru this difficult and very scary time. As everyone is aware medical expenses, even with medical insurance are costly, and we want to help alleviate some of those expenses thru this fund. Logan has a long recovery route ahead of himself, there’s multiple upcoming physical therapy sessions, check ups and one final surgery to remove the metal plate from his left leg, in the upcoming months. Every little bit helps and we would be forever grateful with your contributions.

El pasado Sábado 31 de marzo 2018, mi sobrino Logan Sheppard de 6 años, hijo menor de Tony Sheppard, el esposo de nuestra sobrina Beatriz Acosta, fué víctima de un accidente cuando estaba montando bicicleta con su mamá y hermano mayor; un carro lo atropelló cuando el conductor no lo vió y no logró frenar en la FM 2351 en Friendswood TX. Los paramédicos y testigos que llegaron al lugar del accidente le salvaron la vida a Logan al hacerle un torniquete en la pierna izquierda, donde tenía una fractura abierta de fémur. Al poco tiempo fue trasladado en helicóptero de urgencia a la sala de emergencias del Hospital Memorial Herman en el Centro Médico de Houston, donde lo operaron de emergencia por la lesión de su pierna izquierda. La intervención duró unas 4 horas aproximadamente, ya que tenían que estabilizar la pierna porque tenía otras heridas que requerían atención de inmediato antes de poder proceder a reparar el fémur. Para ese entonces a Logan le habían hecho radiografías en todo su cuerpo, revelando que tenía la clavícula y el pómulo roto, también un hematoma en el cerebro, razón por la cual, permaneció en coma inducido, conectado a un respirador por un par de horas y pasó las primeras 36 horas en la unidad de terapia intensiva pediatrica. Finalmente el domingo en la noche lo trasladaron a un cuarto post operatorio. Ellos se encuentran agradecidos con tantas llamadas, visitas y oraciones que han recibido de parte de familiares y amigos durante estos días tan duros, tanto apoyo les ha dado fuerzas y ánimos para seguir adelante. Todos sabemos que las cuentas médicas, incluso con cobertura del seguro son bastante costosas, nuestra meta con este fondo es ayudar con la carga de las facturas médicas ya que vienen meses de rehabilitación con terapia física, chequeos médicos y finalmente una nueva cirugía para remover la placa que está manteniendo el fémur en su lugar. Cada granito de arena ayuda y ellos van a agradecer eternamente cualquier ayuda.
