Kidney and pancreas transplant

Our son, David (well he’s my step son, but I consider him my son) is in need of a kidney and pancreas transplant. 14 years ago him and his brother were diagnosed with an
E. coli infection. They contracted it from eating undercooked meat from a fast food restaurant (that I won’t name). Because of that they both developed something called HUS. Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is a condition that affects the blood and blood vessels. It results in the destruction of blood platelets (cells involved in clotting), a low red blood cell count (anemia) and kidney failure due to damage to the very small blood vessels of the kidneys. Other organs, such as the brain or heart, may also be affected by damage to very small blood vessels. Trent, his twin brother, was lucky enough to be on temporary dialysis and his kidney function was good enough not to have to go back on. David however not only was in need of a kidney transplant but was now an insulin dependent diabetic. After testing, the only match was his grandmother. 2 days after their 5th birthday david received his kidney. Years went by and David was doing amazing. His diabetes was well controlled and kidney function was great! At the 10 year mark the physicians decided to change one of his anti rejection medications because it’s know to be nephrotoxic. This caused him to go into an acute rejection and then led to chronic rejection. Now we are at the point that we need another kidney and a pancreas (so he no longer would need insulin). Our transplant coordinator informed us that my insurance will only cover 65% and we owe 15k upfront. David desperetly needs this transplant and we are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that happens. Any Small donation would mean the world to us.
