Ethan’s Recovery from Brain Surgery

This fundraiser is to assist Ethan Wood and his family with unexpected medical and other expenses during his hospitalization. Ethan is an otherwise healthy young man, age 32, who was experiencing frequent severe seizures.

On July 24, 2019 Ethan had a routine surgical procedure at Norton Brownsboro hospital in Louisville Ky. Due to surgery complications his brain was punctured causing bleeding on the brain. He then was rushed into another surgery where half his skull was removed to stop the swelling and pressure on the brain stem. He has been in ICU in a coma and has not regained consciousness ever since. 
Unless God lays his hands on Ethan with a miracle the best case scenario is that Ethan will be permanently paralyzed on the left side of his body as the right side of his brain was irreparably damaged. 


Ethan has since had a tracheostomy and a stomach feeding tube for medications and liquid food supplements while his brain rests and we wait for him to awake. He is breathing on his own with respirator assistance. At present, Ethan is fighting a lung infection/pneumonia.


Next week Ethan will have to be moved to a Long Term Acute Care Facility, most likely in Lexington or Louisville. Ethan’s mother and extended family reside in Northern Ohio. His mother and girlfriend came down for his surgery and have been with him 24/7 throughout this time. Some of his family visits as they are able while others are taking care of things for mom while she is away.


Funds are needed to assist with medical and other expenses. Ethan has insurance through his employer but it will in no way cover the multitude of other daily expenses incurred. At this time estimated continued expenses are unknown. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
