WTAMU Nursing Student Loses Home

Donation protected
The West Texas A&M Student Nursing Association (WTNSA) is asking for your help.  Our friend, colleague, and nursing  classmate has lost her home to a fire. On the morning of December 10th, 2017, Amy Parham and her husband Eric narrowly escaped their home with nothing but the pajamas on their backs and the family dogs as fire consumed their residence.

Amy is a junior nursing student at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.  Eric works for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. As they grapple with the loss of her home and all their family has worked for, there is the added burden that this occurred on the eve of final exams week for Amy!  For those who have taken on the mantle of nursing as their chosen profession, you know how stressful and challenging it already is.  Losing one's home while trying to wrap up the semester is a devastating blow.

We will also be accepting donations of clothing, household items, and other sundries in support of our friend and her family.  Thank you to our graduating seniors who have stepped up with donations of clinical attire, textbooks, and other nursing school items to help ensure that Amy may continue on in her program.  GO BUFFS!

With the holiday season now upon us and Christmas only a couple of short weeks away, please help us to expedite sharing this message and raising funds as quickly as possible. Amy and Eric are currently residing in a small motorhome to which they are trying to get power supplied as well as access their septic system on their property.  With four "fur babies," lodging in a hotel is not an option for them; they hope not to to be separated during an already difficult time.

Please share this campaign as we at the West Texas A&M College of Nursing and Health Sciences stand by Amy and her family.  For Amy and Eric who have chosen professions of service... we now choose to serve in their time of need.

In Deepest Gratitude,

The Students of the Department of Nursing

West Texas A&M University
