Take QWERTY to VEX Robotics World!

Our VEX Robotics team, QWERTYuiopasdfghklzxcvbnm, known as the QWERTY Davis Youth Robotics Team, was formed in the summer of 2017 in Davis, California. Our members, Adam, Akira, Ellie, LT, and Ludi, are meeting at least twice a week with our dedicated Coach Maggie and fabulous mentors Justin and Mohammed, from Citrus Circuits , a local high school robotics team.
We are thrilled to have made it into the VEX IQ Worlds in the Middle School Division, along with our fellow Davis team, Vexation! (If you’d like to sponsor them as well, here is the link to their GoFundMe page .) It will be held in Kentucky, from April 29 through May 1, 2018, and while that is a big achievement for us and is very exciting, we need funds to attend the World Championships for registration ($975.00) , airfare, room/board for 5 days / 4 nights, etc.
So far, we have made it past the local and state competitions. At the local competitions in October 2017, we won the Excellence Award, which is the highest award in the VEX IQ competitions. We were awarded for our second place standing in the driver skills bracket and our robot skills score, along with our STEM Research Presentation about robot ethics in natural disaster relief situations. In December 2017, we won the Teamwork Champion Award, which is given to the two teams that work together to score the highest amount of points.
At state competitions on March 3rd, 2018, we qualified for Worlds due to a high Robot Skills score as we ranked #56 out of total 2545 teams in the Middle School Division. We are eager to use the skills and lessons we have learned from these previous tournaments to compete at the world level and to be one of the teams representing the City of Davis to the best teams from around the world.
All members of QWERTY are excited to continue to Worlds! We’d appreciate it if you could support our team so we could continue our amazing robotic experiences at the World Championships.
