At 50: Celebrating Communities & Embodied Learning

It is my core mission to connect people – to themselves, to their bodies, to each other and to the experience of a more authentic, more embodied and a more passionate approach to a world begging for change and new visions.
This mission becomes tangible in the various projects I initiated and helped to build, among them Authentic Eros , Stretch Festival and Village Berlin as hubs for queerness and masculinity. My embodiment focused work is expressed through the Somatic Academy Berlin and the Body IQ Festival . Other projects such as Instinct are dealing with the intersection of bodywork and art, others are more community oriented in their nature, such as Stretch Village e.V. and Queer Matters e.V.
This ecosystem of organizations and institutions needs to be administered – which is a task that my partner Eric and I and some truly amazing people around us have taken on in the past 8 years, driven by passion and the urgency to create safe spaces for learning and growth.
Turning 50 on the 25th of December, I want to take a big step towards a more professional and sustainable administration. We need to strengthen institutional alliances with like-minded organizations internationally. Grant applications need to be organized. We need to build a team of dedicated professionals in the fields of communication, event management and communities. After 10 years of working hands-on, I need to refocus away from the day-to-day tasks and return to what I am best at: developing and teaching, creating spaces and communities.
The future of our communities and work cannot only be subject to free market conditions and the pressure of an economy in constant flux. I need your help to create a financial reserve and backing. With your help, we can tackle the challenges we are facing right now. It will help us to help people and the communities grow.
The funds will be used for:
- Developing a smarter interconnectedness between educational and artistic activities, membership, non-profit projects, community building, festivals
- Linking to other national & international organizations
- Applying for funding/grant projects for increased diversity, visibility, integration of people with disabilities, intergenerational projects and projects pertaining to queer health and social support
- Growing the Village membership base from 200 to 500 by 2021
- Supporting and consulting others who are interested in building similar projects

Any size is welcome, but if possible for you, consider the option to support us long-term. You enable us to allocate funds wherever they are needed the most. Our goal is to have three years of a partial financial backing for all activities. My dream would be to find 50 people willing to support the ecosystem of my vision and projects with 1000 EUR a year (for three years) until we are mature enough to receive institutional, governmental support. It would dramatically decrease the commercial pressure and create breathing space to construct better longterm solutions. Of course this is just one way of breaking it down and thinking of it. As stated above: any amount helps.

We are looking for a marquee donor or donors who would like to help us scale faster become financially independent and free of commercial pressures and explore options like for instance buying a building so we can offer all our services in one safe and unified location. This could include an intergenerational housing project where we would for instance be able to hire people working for the project getting paid through rental income generated, shift the focus to more social integration and create a fund for a foundation.
