Hello everyone, my name is Penny LauRae and I'm a screenplay writer. It's my life passion. I never imagined I'd be on here asking for help, but here I am. I'm fighting for justice. Here's what happened to me. One day, I was on IMDB. (it's a movie database) l had placed my synopsis of one of my original stories on that site. Note; IMDB is not at fault here.
Someone in the movie industry contacted me and said, I like your synopsis could you send me over your script? Being who this person was I trusted them and submitted it. Anyway, two years later the movie came out. Yes, it was my story with all my characters too. My heart sunk, I felt totally betrayed.
I lost my sister in 2005 and she was the one that inspired me to write this story. By honoring her I wrote her into my story. This script is my baby and this person who stole it gave birth to it. So many writers get their work stolen and it's wrong. This person made a mint and gained recognition off of my hard work and I can not let this go. I have all the proof it's mine, dating back to 2005.
I only have a short time left to file against this person. So, I'm seeking help. I have an attorney that wants to represent me, but it cost money to hire him. He feels I have a case with all of my evidence. I've searched and searched and no attorneys will agree to a pro-bono and I can't blame them, it's hard work to put the case together.
Not only am I after justice, I really want to be the voice for all writers that get thier work stolen. I need to pursue this I am confiden that I will win if I can hire this attorney...
I need to be the example that a writer can stand up and be strong and fight for what's right. I hope to find myself in the media sharing my story to inspire other writer's.
Justice needs to be served.
