International Scholar Laureate Program

My name is Amanda and I am a 28-year-old college student. I started community college as soon as I graduated high school. However, I never finished because I had my son, Carter. In the fall of 2018 I decided to go back to school to finish what I started so long ago. I knew that without a college degree or a trade it would be hard to find gainful employment that provided the needed security to raise a child. I started my first semester taking only two classes to see how well I could manage 6 credits on top of a full-time job and motherhood. I did well, so the following semester I took 9 credits. I ended each semester with A's, and was invited to join the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In November I received an invitation from the International Scholar Laureate to attend a program on International Relations and Diplomacy. During this program, we will meet with embassy officials, local dignitaries, and foreign policy experts to discuss the culture, struggle for equality, global role, as well as attend may other seminars. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, never in a million years did I dream of being so close to finishing my degree,  let alone being chosen to attend this once in a lifetime program. Sadly, I have a slight dilemma. I do not have the required tuition needed to attend the program. I work full time in a warehouse picking, packing, and processing shipments for HVAC companies.  When I am not at work, I am attending school or caring for my son. One day i'm hoping life will be a little easier and less stressful. Until then I will continue to keep moving forward until I've accomplished my goals. I figured I would make this fundraiser to see if anyone is able to help me attend this program. I realize this opportunity doesn't come often, and i'm trying my hardest to secure my spot. If anyone is able to donate - I cannot thank you enough! I am extremely grateful for all the support and words of encouragement. Without your support, I wouldn't be here.
