Help Macmillan recover his sight…

Donation protected
We are running this fund on behalf of our amazingly strong friend, brother and son Macmillan Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa. He is fighting a battle against blindness at the age of 27 as a result of a racially aggravated assault, and no person should have to face this.

Macmillan has had challenges with his eyes since he was young. In the year 2000, he had several major optical operations conducted in Zimbabwe by Dr. Solomon Guramatunhu to his cornea. In the end he needed corneal transplants to both eyes resulting in good vision in the right eye but not much improvement in the left. Despite this ordeal, he has successfully completed his B.Sc. in Information Systems. He left Zimbabwe for Cyprus in 2016 and he was currently studying towards an M.Sc. in Information Systems at Near East University in Northern Cyprus.

While in Northern Cyprus Macmillan and his friends were attacked by Turkish assailants fortunately his friends of Turkish origin were left unharmed and he was unlucky. This happened in Cyprus on the eve of 16th of June 2017 . As a result of the trauma his stitches from the previous corneal transplant came off and this threatened vision in his good right eye. Doctors in Cyprus stitched up his eye in a medical surgery and put him on antibiotics but unfortunately this was in vain. The diagnosing doctors have recommended a corneal transplant in highly specialized eye centre as it is not a straightforward case. At present, Macmillan only has 5% of his vision. As a family we are in the deepest of despair following these events.

We are raising funds for Macmillan to undergo a corneal transplant to restore his eye sight.  Not only will he need assistance with medical bills, but also the financial burdens that includes transport, accommodation and other petty charges.

Macmillan has a strong mental constitution, a bright outlook and a stubborn resilience to complete his Masters and pursue his long held goals. We are doing our best to support him in every way possible but at the moment the financial obligations are overwhelming on our little dwindling finances.

We are looking to raise the amount of £10 000.  The following is a breakdown of the expenses involved in order to achieve Macmillan’s planned medical surgery:

Transport: £1000

Surgery: £ 9000

Accommodation for the duration of the surgery: £1500

We appreciate any amount of gift you are able to extend to Macmillan. As he moves within this difficult time towards the surgery, we ask for your generosity, your prayers and good wishes. We appeal for assistance as Macmillan seeks to recover his dreams.

Please help us support Macmillan’s fight for his eyes by donating today. If for any reason you are unable to donate, we understand; but please do share this message so as to reach further as it can go.
