Joanne's Journey

This fundraiser has been established to support Joanne Mitchell and her parents, as they navigate the next challenges in Joanne’s Journey.

Joanne was given the unimaginable news in June 2019, at the young age of 40, that she had Stage 4 Metastatic Lung Cancer. After a series of tests, she discovered that the cancer had spread to her bones.

Sadly in 2021, Joanne’s medical team discovered that her cancer cells had migrated to her cerebrospinal fluid which circulates nutrients and chemicals to the brain and spinal cord otherwise known as Leptomeningeal disease.

Many of Joanne’s extended family and friends have asked over this time, how can they help? With Joanne’s blessing, we have decided to set up this Go Fund Me page for people to help in a small way towards supporting Joanne and her parents.

We are also seeking support from the Irish community here and at home who recognise the challenges and pressures of living so far from home under such circumstances. These valuable funds will enable Joanne to immediately rent a ground floor/purpose build apartment, close to the hospital, giving her the comfort for her every changing health needs.

Joanne goes above and beyond for everyone she knows and is the first to put her hand up to help. She will be so incredibly grateful for all of your support.
