"Baby Shower" for Ebtesam Al Saleh

Dear Family and Friends,
I have had the great good fortune to work with a refugee family who fled Syria in 2015 and came to find safety and freedom here in Houston. They are the Al Saleh family and I teach the three younger children English as a second language. I have become close with the whole family of 8; the parents, Ebtesam and Marwan, Nour and Reem (twin daughters, ages 17), Mohammad (15), Kasem (son, 14), Rawan (daughter, 12) and Feras (son, 9). They have spent the past two and a half years meeting the challenge to assimilate into our culture, learning at school in a foreign language, all while holding onto their own culture. The children are quick learners and doing well. They are all smart, polite, fun, funny and hard working. Their father works at the nearby Marriott and their mother is a wonderful cook and takes care of her family with great love and care.
This past January, Ebtesam found out that she was pregnant. It came as a huge surprise. She was just getting settled and happy with her life here and somehow managing it all with their six children. Now the family is excited that a baby girl will be arriving soon...around Oct. 12, which is less than a month away. This family lives very close to the bone and so I am reaching out to each of you to raise funds for little baby Al Saleh. What better way to help them to get all the baby paraphernalia and cute items that are needed, of which they have none. It is also my hope that by raising a significant amount we can "feather the nest" for the future.
I hope you will join me in contributing to this GoFundMe "baby shower!" I know it will mean the world to them and will help in ways that they need so much. Despite the current state of things, they have found Americans in Houston who have welcomed them with love and kindness. Now we want to welcome baby Al Saleh with the same open hearts. Please contribute what you can. We hope you can donate soon, but we will leave this up until some time after her birth, as new needs arise. This also means a lot to me and I want to thank you in advance for your help and thoughtfulness.

I visit the family, who live in nearby Houston once or twice a week.
