"After the Fire" Tyler Fundraiser

Donation protected
When my sister, Danica, left home yesterday, she never imagined it would be for the last time.  Friends urged her to spend the day in the city with a friend "just in case."

Her husband, Nathan, who is a volunteer firefighter, stayed behind to protect their home and belongings. He'd been getting the place fire-ready for days and felt quietly confident.

But last night, the 12th of November, when the fire came, there was no stopping it. While Nathan and other firemen were defending one large timber-clad building, another crew were hosing down around the house. For a split second, he looked back towards their family home, just to see it burst into flame and the fire crew running for their lives. He reported that the fire was a storm in itself, raining embers and flashing with lightning. The water hoses melted and the firemen barely escaped with their lives.

My sister and her husband have 15 year old son with a severe disability and three younger children. Thousands of dollars worth of medicine and special resources for their eldest was lost in the inferno, along with their piano, the children’s schoolbooks, a library of books, all the family clothing, kitchenware and furniture.

They lost 18+ years worth of belongings and have no place to call home. They have to start all over again from scratch. We’re hoping to surprise them with this funding and help them get back on their feet again. Thank you so much for whatever you can spare!
