Randy's Recovery Fund

Donation protected
As you likely know, Randy is heading into surgery just about now for his Whipple procedure. The Whipple is a complex, intensive surgery that will last anywhere from 6 to 16 hours, depending upon what they find after they begin. Randy has complete confidence in his surgical team and feels very optimistic about a successful outcome. Having a good attitude, combined with the assurance of knowing his friends and family are on his side, loving him with all our hearts, and rooting for a full recovery puts him exactly where he needs to be at this point.

Nevertheless, after I spoke with him this morning it occurred to me that this is a golden opportunity to take advantage of him being anesthetized (unconscious), because he can't keep me from overruling his self-sufficient streak and raising funds to help him get back on his feet once they're done rearranging his organs.

As everyone knows, Randy is a private dick (or gumshoe, if you prefer), and when he's not pounding the pavement and sneaking around peering into suspects' living room curtains in the dark of night, he's not generating income.  And I assume you've heard the story of that crazy defendant who chased him through Forest Park with a butcher knife when he tried to serve one of Mike's subpoenas. Yeah, she's in prison now, but there are a lot of other nuts out there waiting to be served and Randy will need to get back into peak shape if he wants to stay a few steps ahead of all those psychos.

Once he's out of surgery he'll need to return to a pretty grueling regimen of chemo and radiation therapy, and that's going to keep him from getting back into the groove right away. It's difficult to estimate how much money he's going to need  to pay his medical expenses and properly recover and transition back to his normal life, but we're hoping to raise enough so he won't have to worry about hustling back to work right away.

Whether you can give a little or a lot, I hope you'll consider helping put Randy in a position in which he can hopefully take a breath and put all his focus on getting well and regaining his strength. And if you can't give anything, no worries - please just stay in touch and help provide the loving support he needs to get through this difficult time.

Thank you!

PS - That's a pic of Randy (of course) and his favorite nephew, Wilder, at Wilson in the summer. Randy was conducting a science experiment and demonstrating for Wilder how gravity causes liquid from a cup to fall to the field. It was absolutely riveting and made Randy realize he should consider being a grade school teacher!

PPS - Please feel free to share a favorite pic of Randy, if you like.
