Quinones Family Hurricane Support

Donation protected
Update:  10/7/2017

Sounds like things are getting better. Just spoke to my aunt some of the family are doing better as resources are getting to them.

With your help, I am providing some aid and comfort to the family that has been struggling. Thank you all for that because it realves the tension.

I am hoping to get a plane tickwt to be in Puerto Rico the week of the 23rd to help my mom rebuild and replace as much as I can as she is left with just the clothes on her back.

Your on going support has been wonderful. If you can please take some time this weekend to push my donations effort, it will be greatly appreciated.
In January 1978, Andres Quinones, son of Miguel Quinones, was murdered. He was a father of four at the time and was dating a woman named Dolores Castro.

For one reason or another, Dolores Castro decided to move to Boston only to discover that she was pregnant and carrying the last son of Andres Quinones. Dolores decided to name her son, my husband,  Miguel Andres Quinones when he was born on October 21st 1978 in Boston, Mass.

Growing up without a father for the most part was hard. Even harder while witnessing an abusive relationship and in the ghettos of Boston during the crack epidemic. His mother dreamed of one thing during the tough years in Boston despite visiting Puerto Rico almost every summer. Buying a home in Puerto Rico. When the opportunity came she did exactly that. Although they had a strained relationship and grew to become strangers, his mother always talked about how she wanted this house not just for her but for him as well. A huge barrier of this relationship however, was due to the fact that his mother would never talk about his father or discussed what had happened.  A few years ago they reconnected. He met his sister from his father side for the first time. He visited his mom in their house for the first time in Puerto Rico while finally going back after almost 15 years. He said, "I cannot explain how much I felt like I was home." Just this year he brought me and our 2 daughters to P.R. where we got to meet his mom for the first time.  It was hard leaving her. We talked about coming back ASAP. This was our first major family vacation. He was proud to see his mom be so kind to the neighbors. Often providing breakfast and lunch to neighbors while taking care of his uncle who has some mental challenges. His mom would buy clothing and toys for kids in the neighborhood. She also allowed a few struggling people to stay in our home until they got their feet back on track.

He just spoke to mom yesterday. Things are bad and the people are deperate. She is homeless. The house is totaled. It is going to need alot of work. Friends and family are starving. They need help.

We need to rebuild but I have no idea what the cost will be.  He had taken vacation time already for October and is planning to go there during that time to help his mom and others in the community and our family recoup.

I am starting this page in hopes that you can help us help our mom and others. I don't know how much I will actually need, but I figured I would start with $10,000 and go from there. He wants to be able to tell his mom that her son is going to help her dream home for us become whole again and stronger than ever. He wants to be able to help those in need and to help ourfamily get back on their feet. Your support will be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small.
