Quill & Ruby's Lifesaving Surgeries

Tax deductible
Hello animal lovers and underdog warriors! We are officially fundraising for Quill & Ruby's lifesaving orthopedic surgeries! We hope to have BOTH dogs surgically corrected by the ever-talented Dr. Thomas at Tanasbourne Veterinary Emergency on MONDAY - aka in two days!

Quill is a 1 year old Wire Hair Dachshund mix boy who has suffered an extremely bad pelvic injury with multiple fracture locations, with the most concerning being the sacroiliac location. We will need to get him into surgery this coming week to reduce and stabilize his pelvis with screws as well as amputate his tail. Additionally, we will remove his fractured k9 tooth and neuter him so he only has to go under anesthesia once for the foreseeable. For now, Quill is on strict kennel rest, gabapentin for pain & anti-inflammatory.

Miss Ruby on the other paw has a severely fractured humerus. Ruby is the ultimate spitfire Queensland Heeler and I am convinced she has a tiny ninja living inside of her body bursting to get out! She is on a maximum dose of gabapentin, anti-inflammatory medication, trazadone for sedation and CBD:THC 5:1 - yet, she is still on level 1000! Confinement is NOT something Ruby is a fan of and I can't blame her. She is a 2 month old, hyper intelligent working breed. This girl has things to do, places to go, a family out there to herd. We have two choices with Ruby: Amputate ($800-$1000) or Pin/Wire/Plate to try to save the leg ($1500-$1800). If we cannot find a way to keep her quiet AND mentally sane then we will opt for the amputation. Missing one limb will NOT slow her down. In her case, I am most concerned about her mental wellness. She is a baby with a critical timeframe of bonding, socialization, training, learning to trust, etc. If we have to keep her confined and she is literally on the verge of spontaneously combusting, it not only risks her healing outcome but also her mental/emotional state and that could pose bigger training issues in her future. There is no right answer, there is no wrong answer in her case... but we do know that one way or another - surgery is in her near future!

NOW, this is the positive news out of all of this: We have a generous donor willing to match the initial $2500 in donations! This potentially could nearly double what we are trying to raise for Quill and Ruby! Every dollar amount raised above this limit will be payed forward to the next major medical animal in need that comes through our care. So not only do you have a chance to help save these babies... but your dollar has the power to help save MORE lives! WIN WIN with a cherry on top! Thank you so kindly for your generosity and support! Don't forget that Panda Paws Rescue is a nonprofit and your donation is Tax Deductible!
