WE ARE BACK FOR QUEERPORT 2021!

Over 40 artists, musicians, poets, vendors, creators, and performers came together under one roof in June 2019 for the queerest day Shreveport, Louisiana has seen in a long, long time (or maybe ever!). That day was an awakening for our team and showed us just how important having all ages events are in our area. Over 200 people came out including families, friends, allies, and duh, a bunch of queer people.

When COVID-19 hit last year, all of our plans were put on pause. We had already begun working on our 2020 event, but because of the presented circumstances, we went digital and curated a six-day long series of events in October. We had 35 creatives participate with us. We showcased studio tours, drag shows, paint parties, and even hosted world renown trans artist and activist, Alok Vaid-Menon. It was pretty incredible.

Well, this year we've been given the green light to return to where it all started – MINICINE? IN DOWNTOWN SHREVEPORT

The aliens have landed, y'all. It's time for a big gay takeover – QUEERPORT style! Our flagship event returns to mincine? on Saturday, October 23.

BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!

For our 2020 event, we were able to pay OVER 20 creatives for their hard work and time, and it's all because of our community. Y'all showed up and showed out, and we are thankful.

Our goal for this event is $3,000, paid primarily to:
1. Our performers/guests/workshoppers/etc. (last year we paid over $1000 to creatives and this year we'd love to double it!)
2. Online advertising
3. A small padding for emergencies
4. Rental of the space
5. Security

WHAT IS QUEERPORT?

QUEERPORT was designed to give queer creators a platform to write, blog, upload video content, create events, hold fashion shows, and document our history. Our goal is to bring together queer creatives in the south, specifically in northwest Louisiana, to share our stories and create commentary on issues that matter to us. We aspire to empower queer youth and give them alternative resources and programming, offering events and workshops throughout the year. Our long term mission is to build our city’s first LGBTQIA+ arts and resource center.

We can’t wait to see what you create with us. Find out more at queerport.org.
