Queerport 2020

Donation protected
Over 40 artists, musicians, poets, vendors, creators, and performers came together under one roof on June 22, 2019 for the queerest day Shreveport, Louisiana has seen in a long, long time (or maybe ever!). Hugs were given. Friends were made. Family was created. We saw babes in their parents' arms and grandparents, mothers, sisters — blood and chosen. We celebrated alongside each and every person who walked through the doors...

But this year we are asking for YOUR help!

UPDATE: QUEERPORT 2020 IS GOING DIGITAL FOR A SIX-DAY LONG SERIES OF EVENTS FROM OCTOBER 26-31. Due to COVID-19 and the current restrictions placed on socializing in public spaces, we had originally rescheduled our event to November 15 at minicine. We have decided to reschedule this event to 100 percent online. Look for more info on our Queerport 2020 main event coming soon via queerport.org  and Facebook/Instagram.

We pulled off this event last year with a lot of hope, a little money, and a lot of love. One thing we were unable to do was paying our entertainment. We used our grant for security, and the money raised from vendors went into online advertising, space rental, and paying for our marketplace sponsor's travel. We aim to be as transparent as possible, and we want each and every person to know where their money is going.

This year is different since we aren't having to pay for rental services. There also no vendor fees. We would, however, like to allocate the remaining $650 of our $1000 goal to:

1. Payment to our performers/guests/workshoppers/etc.
2. Online advertising
3. A small padding for emergencies

QUEERPORT is not just an event, it’s a movement. And it’s not just one day, it’s every day. We live in QUEERPORT. But our flagship event is the BIGGEST festival we put together to honor our queer families and the culture we're creating. We just want to be able to give our community more, and we know through your donations we can. That's why we want this event to ALWAYS BE FREE because it's important that EVERYONE can access it.

Our allies consistently ask how they can help, and this is it. Whether it's a dollar, ten bucks or $100, we'll take it. And we'll thank you for it. EVERY contribution matters.

QUEERPORT was designed to give queer creators a platform to express themselves. Paired with our blog, our goal is to bring together queer creatives in the south, specifically in northwest Louisiana. We aspire to empower queer youth and give them alternative resources and programming, offering events and workshops throughout the year. Our longterm mission is to build our city’s first LGBTQIA+ arts and resource center.

We can’t wait to see what you create with us. Keep an eye on queerport.org to stay in the know.
