Queenstown Reparative Initiative
One week ago, our space in Queenstown was peppered with hate speech. It was truly disturbing and shocking to see this in Queenstown, which is one of the most magical places in the world.
The response from the community was to immediately paint over and remove the vandal's work.
Even better has been the response from the Queenstown leadership, who condemned the violent act and are supporting us in working towards repair.
In this act of repair, the owner of the building where the atrocity was displayed is allowing us to create something beautiful there.
This is where we're re asking for our community (both local Queenstown community, but also our Tasmanian and abroad community) to come along and support this work with us.
We've established a crowdfunding page to both totally undo and repair the ugly scars and symbols left on this wall, but also support future artists to come to Queenstown. We want to show our local and world community we believe in harmony and the fair and ethical treatment of all and we are going to keep working together to create beautiful work to share with the world that reflects the true spirit of Queenstown.
