Queen's Park Play area
The children's play area at Queen's Park is currently boarded up due to the council's lack of funds to invest in new play equipment. Originally funded with help from the QUEEN'S PARK IMPROVEMENT & PROTECTION SOCIETY (QPIPS) and with the support of former councillors, myself (Mark Anderson) and Cheryl Johnson, it is disheartening to see this vital resource for local children deteriorate over the past two years.
QPIPS has decided to take action. We are committing the profits from this year's Picnic in the Park to start the repairs. Additionally, we aim to secure match funding from local businesses to maximize our efforts, and we need your help to achieve this goal.
Join me in making a difference for our local children. I am raising funds to help repair this play area and demonstrate to the council its importance to our community. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant impact. Thank you for contributing to this cause that means so much to me.
Many parents have expressed their concerns, including one who said “My young boys and I have been frequent visitors to the park and café; we insist on supporting local businesses. This is in fact our favourite park out of the various we have visited - the wooden design and landscape is indeed unique. Unfortunately, we have taken our visits elsewhere as the structure is out of use. Luckily, we have use of a car, but I know that other local families are not in this position."
